Funding Opportunities

NSRC funds one to three year research projects that cover priority issues in the Northern Forest.

The projects cover a broad range of concerns related to forest biodiversity & connectivity, climate change & energy, invasive pests & diseases, recreation & tourism, and traditional ecological knowledge about forest systems.

Although the US Congress allocated funds for NSRC in the FY25 budget, NSRC has not received them through our funding agency, the USDA Forest Service. Supporting new NSRC projects depends on availability of funding from Congress and the US Forest Service. We encourage you to reach out to your congressional delegations and ask them to continue to support NSRC now and in the future. Like the rest of the country, we remain in limbo regarding FY26 funding.

We have no information on dates for future NSRC competitions. When we have new information to share, we will send it out via the NSRC email list (subscribe on our home page)

At this time, we expect funding for current awards to remain available.
