Dr. Angela Mech is the Assistant Professor of Forest Entomology at the University of Maine. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Georgia studying hemlock woolly adelgid biology and control. At the University of Washington, she was a postdoctoral researcher and a USGS John Wesley Powell Center for Analysis and Synthesis Fellow studying the role of evolutionary history in invasion dynamics.
She is a member of interdisciplinary and international teams of researchers aimed at quantifying the drivers of non-native insect impacts in forest systems and comprehending the biogeography of historical insect invasions. Angela continues to conduct research with the goal of better understanding and managing forest insect pests.
