Dr. Christina Murphy is a new Assistant Unit Leader at the U.S. Geological Survey, Maine Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit and Assistant Professor in the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Conservation Biology at the University of Maine. She is excited to work in the forests of the Northeast, and is a former PhD student of Dr. Sherri Johnson at Oregon State University and a Ford Family Foundation Scholar.
Christina's research is broadly focused on the ecological implications of changes to the availability and timing of water, including changes associated with forest harvest, and to the introduction of novel species and disease. She spends a lot of time thinking about management strategies for aquatic communities. Her NSRC research will explore the aquatic ecology and biodiversity of northern white-cedar lowlands with a team of collaborators and practitioners.
